Recent Legislation
The American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 makes a portion of unemployment compensation non-taxable for certain filers and eliminates repayment of excess funds received through the Advance Premium Tax Credit. We ask for your patience while we wait for guidance from the IRS and Oregon Department of Revenue agencies regarding implementation of these programs.
We are holding all 2020 returns that have unemployment benefits or the Advance Premium Tax Credit until additional guidance is provided. We expect the IRS and Oregon Department of Revenue to issue a series of official guidance memos on these items over the next few weeks. Once the guidance is issued, we need to wait for our software vendor to update and test with the IRS and Oregon Department of Revenue. Only then will we be able to process tax returns with unemployment compensation or healthcare premium tax credits.
For returns that have already been filed with these items, we will need to file amended returns. We will likely need to charge a fee for this service. These items will be addressed after April 15th.
Additional Stimulus Payments: We encourage you to watch the news and monitor IRS.GOV for details. We have absolutely no knowledge or control regarding if, when, or how your specific stimulus money will be delivered.
